Rajamangala University of Technology, Thanyaburi (RMUTT) is located in Khlong Hok Subdistrict, Khlong Luang District, Pathum Thani Province.

Hands-on Experience in EFL Classrooms

What is included in the Cultural Immersion Experience?

The Cultural Immersion Experience includes cultural activities and guided tours to explore Thailand's rich heritage, art, leisure, and nature. Program participants are paired with local students as "language buddies" to help them navigate the daily experiences in Thailand in exchange for providing real-life practice in English. Guest House or International Dormitory stay is provided by RMUTT for the duration of the trip. 

What are the trip dates?

The Summer 2026 trip is currently scheduled to take place from July 4 (departure July 3) through July 25, 2026.

What do participants do during the trip?

CPP student participants are paired with mentor teachers - local English language professors. Under the guidance of the mentor teachers, participants serve as language consultants, plan and conduct learning activities in the classrooms, and lead conversation corner activities. Teaching and/or conversation corner activities are scheduled most mornings and afternoons on weekdays. In the late afternoons and evenings, participants are free to explore local shopping, restaurants, concerts, traditional Thai massage and beauty treatments, and tourist activities on their own or with their "language buddies." On weekends, the host university organizes guided tours to sites important to Thai heritage, history, culture, art, and leisure. These tours include visits to Bangkok, the Grand Palace and Temples, Ayutthaya (the historical capital of Thailand and a UNESCO Heritage site), Chatuchak Weekend Market, Pattaya beaches, Nong Nooch Botanical Gardens, Erawan Waterfalls, etc.)

Who is eligible to participate?

All participants must be current students at California State Polytechinc University at Pomona. The program is open to all majors. Students must have completed a course prerequisite to participate in the Summer 20206 experience (choose ONE):

  • ENG 4230 taken any time prior to Summer 2026

OR

  • ENG 4990 - Teaching English in Thailand- taken in the Spring of 2025 (hybrid synchronous)

OR

  • Any graduate-level class in TESOL taken any time prior to Summer 2026

How much does it cost?

The estimated cost per student for the Summer 2026 experience is $2500-$2800, including air fare. The final costs will be determined based on the availabity of institutional support and should be known by mid-April, 2026.
