Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for EML Study Abroad: Thailand, applicants must be currently enrolled in a degree program at California State Polytechnic University at Pomona.  We seek students with a demonstrated interest in cross-cultural exchange and a passion for learning about new cultures. Students must fulfill one course prerequisite in order to participate in the program:

  • ENG 4230 - Introduction to TESOL

OR

  • ENG 4990 - Teaching English in Thailand (offered as a hybrid synchronous 3-unit course in the Spring semester of 2026)

OR

  • Any graduate TESOL course

We are looking for students who are adaptable, open-minded, and enthusiastic about embracing new experiences. A strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, and a genuine desire to learn about Thai culture and contribute to the local community are highly valued.
